Just a couple more days…

There are a couple more days for the inspiration challenge!  Pull out those magazines and find that inspiration!

55th Anniversary

I made this card with today’s Sketch Challenge for my Grandparents 55th wedding anniversary.  I don’t have a stamp that says happy anniversary (but I will soon, come on June 1st!) so I used the Warm words set, cherish.  I wrote on the inside: “..We hope you spend your day cherishing the good memories and forgetting the bad…” Hope that is not stupid.  I used the Recollections DP, Close to Cocoa, Choc. Chip, Bravo Burgundy and Always Artichoke.  To get the triangles behind the main image I cut a square (I stamped my with the canvas BG) and cut it in half.  I then adhered the triangles to the back of the main image.  I used brads from the vintage collection.  The main image is from a retired set Beautiful Blossoms.  The Stampin’ Up! retired list is out now and the end of the catalog year is coming up quickly.  If you don’t have a retired list ask me or your demo and get the sets you love soon!  I paper pierced and did faux stitching on this card.  I also sponged around the main image and used the oval punch for the sentiment.  To create the scallop I took the guard off of the corner rounder punch and punched side by side along the bottom of my paper lining up punch corner to corner as I went.  If you don’t know how to do this let me know and I will take pictures to show you what I mean.  I stamped the Linen BG stamp on my Close to Cocoa card base and I am done!  Now, I just need to go and get an envelope and send it!

Just for fun!

I did this card today just for fun!  Isn’t that great to stamp just for fun!  I was watching tv with my hubby and a commercial gave me this inspiration!  I have no idea what they were selling but I thank them for the idea!  Of course, as with most things lots of ideas on this card came from stampers on SCS.  Kyla (see my blogroll) usually puts the circles under her brads and I think that is such a nice touch.  I have seen the Coluzzle circles on many cards on SCS.  The paper is from the DP in the Spring Mini.  This mini is only good until the end of June so if you want any products out of there now is the time to get it!  The heart is from the SU! set Simply Said.  I really enjoy that set.  The polka dots on the celery cardstock is from a set in the mini catalog, Polka Dots and Petals.  The brads I used are Tempting Turquoise with Cool Caribbean under it.  I used the Round Tab punch, which I am guessing will be in the next catty for the celebrate tab, which is in the very useful Everyday Flexible Phrases set.  Added the ribbon and you have a finished card on a Old Olive card base!

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend!  Looking forward to seeing more catalog/magazine inspired cards this week from you!

I have an uber busy week this week so I don’t know how much I will get to stamp.  I hope to post a couple days a least!  I see my numbers going up but really don’t know who is looking or if you are enjoying my posts/creations.  I hope you are and that you don’t miss me to much 🙂card-fronts-1156.jpg

Beate’s Sketch Challenge

Hello Ladies (and gentlemen)~  I hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend.  I want to thank all of you who are serving, have served or is a family member of someone who had served our country.  I don’t think you all really get enough applause for your great sacrifices for the freedoms we have.  THANK YOU!

This is a card I made for one of my aunt’s ( I have 10) for her birthday this week.  I hope she likes it.  One of my great friend Alicia let me borrow this butterfly stamp because I don’t have any!  I was needing it for another project and didn’t end up using it for that.  I did however think it was perfect for my aunts card!  I RARELY use anything that is not SU! but this one isn’t.  It is made by VAP! Scrap.  I have no idea where to get these, sorry!  The sentiment is stamped with the Everyday Flexible Phrases.  I used the ever present paper piercer and vintage brads.  I used a Chocolate Chip card-base and stamped the Paisley BG stamp in Basic Brown on that.  I used the POP, Almost Amethyst, and Shimmer White.  I sponges around the edges of the shimmer white to age it a bit.  I also used the chocolate grosgrain ribbon.  And done…

My husband and I got to go on a date last night!  We went and saw Pirates 3.  Is was super long but it was nice to be just the two of us for a little bit!  Thank you to my MIL,Vicki, who watched the boys for us!  Ok off to bed for me!  Have a great day tomorrow!

Scrapbook Sketch

For those of you who are scrappers out there in blogging land this is a sketch I got from SCS today.  Have fun with it and I would love to see you pages!  Scrappin’ is one of those things that I always have in the back of my mind but never sit down to do.  I will, one of these days.

Here is a great thing my loving Mom started doing in the year 2000.  Each one of us kids (I am the oldest of three ,the only girl, and the oldest grandchild-can you say spoiled??) and my parents all do an overview scrap page for each year.  We are suppose to have them done by Christmas (umm, don’t tell but I am two years behind).  My mom bought us all albums and color copies the pages each year so we all have memories from everyone for that year.  We end up with four of the same scrapbook.  Does that make sense?  The books are really special and we all enjoy looking at each others pages.  Grant, my  2 1/2 year old, loves looking at them too.  Anyway, just an idea that might be fun to start in your family too!

Update on Inspiration Challenge

I will be keeping the inspiration challenge “open” until next Friday.  My hubby and I will pick our favorite cards and send you a special treat!  Have fun with this and I can’t wait to see more cards!!  The two entries so far are great!  Go and check them out on their blogs!  You can get the links in the original post under the comments page.  Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

Limited Supplies

(For a better view of the cards and projects on my site just click on the pictures-I am working on this issue Sorry!)

I knew there was a reason I kept the retired set Rainy Days.  My generous and thoughtful dad bought it for me at a garage sale last summer.  I have never used it but always thought is was kind of cute.  Not really my style but cute anyway.  Today on the Limited supply challenge on SCS we were suppose to make a graduation card with a stamp that doesn’t scream graduation!  Well, that was the easy part because I don’t own a stamp that has anything to do with graduation.  My awesome husband just graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with his Masters in Geographic Information Sciences, so I thought great, I need to make a card for him anyway.  Well, I think I will try again for him because this really isn’t what I want to give him but I was pleased with how it turned out anyway.  Is it hard to say you are pleased about your work.  It is for me.  I always feel like it could be better or that it is not as good as….fill in the blank with one of the great stampers you know.  Anyway, I regress yet again!  I will probably put the card for sale at the Farmers Market tomorrow to see if anyone needs it.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

The size of this card is 3 1/2 x 6 5/8.  It fits into SU! small open ended envelope.  I used the Rainy Day and Itty bitty BG sets.  I also used the POP paper that is on special this month only.  I also used Bordering Blue for the card base and Ruby Red.  I paper pierced the RR and added black brads from the vintage brad collection.  The alphabet is the Big Deal Alpha from SU!  I made the little diploma from WW and copper cord.  I also used the cord to make the little mortar cap.  I colored the little guy with my SU! markers.  What fun!
