Color Challenge 164

Hi Everybody!  I hope you are having a great day!  After grocery shopping, a little laundry, and cleaning up the boys are in bed and it is time to stamp!  I did the color challenge on SCS today which is Purley Pomegrante, Soft Sky, and Basic black. Wow, was this alittle of a stretch for me!  I looked at the gallery and saw that it could be done so I got to work!  This is most likely be turned into a sympathy card when I get my stamps out of storage! UGHH…..Anyway, Here it is and the details!

I started with a Pomagrante Cardbase and layered a piece of basic black and soft sky DP from the Afternoon Tea collection that I first cornered using the ticket punch.  I finally opened my satin ribbon from the holiday mini and used a piece of that along with black grosgrain.  I then layered a piece of pomagrante stamped with the Weathered BG stamp in Pomagrante.  I used my mat pack to punch three holes for my black brads backed with soft sky.  I stamped the berries and leaves from the Level 2 hostess set on shimmer white.  I colored that with a blender pen and ink from the ink pad tops.  I used So Saffron, Pomegranate, Close to Cocoa, Celery, Olive, and soft sky.  I used the ticket corner for the main image and layered that on black as well.  I used dimensional to pop up the pomegranate section on the card.  Hope you like it and I also hope I don’t have the need to send it to you anytime soon!

Tech. Challenge #166

My SIL and I had fun stamping this morning as the kids played (really just made alot of messes!) .  We did the Technique challenge for today on SCS.  Today’s challenge is a Two Way Open Card.  The instructions are here

This is the front of the card. I started with a 4 1/2″ square piece of Groovy Guava and stamped the sanded BG on that in versamark.  You really can’t see that in the pic sorry!  I then Used Ruby Red for the next layer.  I Used Ginger Blossom paper throughout this card.  I layered the river rock triangle on teh ruby red flap and paper pierced two rows along the bottom.  I put a small piece of groovy guava ribbon layered with white taffeta ribbon above the paper piercing.  I punched a circle with the 1 3/8″ circle and a white 1 1/4″ circle to layer under my flowers that I cut from the ginger blossom paper.  I added a little sparkle with dazzling diamond and a pearl center for the flower from the Pretties Kit.  I then added the inside layer of Pretty in Pink . I layered River Rock and another piece of Ginger Blossom paper to that.  To create a closure for the card I added a Build-a-brad and added the ruby red stripe from again the Ginger Blossom paper in the brad.  When you open the card this is what it looks like.

I paper pierced around the whisper white square and stamp a frame from the Frames with a Flourish set in Close to Cocoa and Stamped happy birthday inside that in ruby red.  It was a fun little card to do!  Thanks for coming to visit!

Taylor’s cupcake Challenge..minus the cupcakes

Taylor had a different sketch challenge Friday!  I tried to get this to work the other way but just couldn’t so I changed it just a bit by flipping the layout.  I started with a Old Olive cardbase and layered a piece of bashful blue stamped with the polka dot BG stamped in Bashful blue ink.  I layered a piece of DP from the Summer Picnic and paper pierced around the edge of these two layers.  I used the wide Old Olive ribbon on those layers.  I used a piece of chipboard from the On Board Blooms and Basic that I cut to be the size I wanted.  I cut it with my dandy tabletop cutter.  I covered the chipboard in bashful blue craft ink and added two layers of glassy glaze to it.   To fill the holes I used the Always stamp from the Always stamp set in the center circle stamped in Old Olive.  I used the new BoHo Blooms flower punch to make the flowers for the two outer circles and added the flower brads from the Silver Hardware Kit in the Occasions Mini.  I adhered the chipboard on with glue dots.

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We were busy with the Washington Huskies (GO DAWGS!) spring practise game yesterday and church today.  We also had a house full of people for dinner which was fun!  Have a great week and I hope you have smiles each day!

Beate’s WSC #45

I was able to stamp a little on Friday night after the boys went to bed and my hubby was busy..(play x-box but don’t tell him I told) 🙂 Here is the link to Beate’s WSC.  She always has a great sketches and great design team to give you alot of inspiration!  I was trying to incorporate chipboard as the May Stampin’ UP! promotion is purchase $35 in merchandise and get 25% off any chipboard item.  I want to show people how great chipboard is and that it is really versatile!

This card is 5 1/4″ square and the base is Real Red.  I then stamped (not very straight I know..) two sentiments from the A Little Birthday Cheer SU! set in white craft ink onto vellum and layered that on next.  I stamped the bird from Pun Fun in Stazon and colored him with markers and the More Mustard watercolor crayon.  I put a little shading under him.  I covered a piece of chipboard from the chipboard package that I just realized you can’t get anymore since it was from the holiday mini 2007. Anyway, I covered it with East Coast Prep DP using a anywhere glue stick.  I cut out the center with my Hobby blade and filed it was a bastard file (yes I think that is really what they are called for some reason??) It worked great to get around the curves of the scallop.  To bad for my dad since he won’t be getting it back 🙂 I layered another piece of the temping turquoise DP from the East Coast Prep onto of the vellum and used silver brad backed with Old Olive, Real Red and More mustard punched with the 1/4″ punch.  I added Wild Wasabi striped ribbon as well. For the top corner I used the Photo Corners punch and layered Old Olive and More mustard and again added brads and backed them in Real Red and Temping Turquoise.  I hope you like it.  It is not my favorite card I have ever made but some little guy might like it someday!

I will share with you the card I did for Taylor’s challenge soon!

Color Challenge

I was able to do a quick card today for this color challenge on Kristina’s blog.  I LOVE her style and she happens to work for the best company out there…SU!  This was her color challenge inspriation piece.  I pretty much just copied the whole design!

I started with a piece of Sahara sand as the cardbase and stamped the Weathered BG stamp in Versamark on that. I then layered a piece of wild wasabi that I did some faux stitching onto the bottom.  Next came a piece of So Saffron that I scalloped the bottom with the corner rounder.  For the main focus I stamped the Baroque BG stamp in white craft ink onto pumpkin pie cardstock and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added silver brads and a piece of silver hardware from the Hodgepodge hardware kit from the SU! Occasions Mini.  The happiness sentiment was markered from the saying in the For Father set.  I then sponged it with close to cocoa.  I added white taffeta ribbon and a bit of pumpkin pie and stitched wild wasabi.  That’s it!  It is a totally different color combo for me!  Have a great day!

Another Afternoon Tea…

Hi Everybody!  I haven’t done much stamping this week (to busy sleeping during naptime 🙂 but this is one I haven’t shared with you yet.  It is a layout from one of Beate’s WSC.  I started with a textured piece of Groovy Guava.  I layered a Whisper White layer with a piece of Afternoon Tea on top of that.  The main image is stamped on Shimmer white paper in Groovy Guava and Old Olive.  The flowers have the center part of the clear rhinestone brads (taken out of the brad part and adhered with half of a glue dot) as their centers but it is hard to see in this picture.  The butterfly was stamped in Soft sky and cut out and adhered with a small piece of a dimensional.  The sentiment is also stamped on Shimmer white and punched with the 1 1/4″ punch and layered on a piece of soft sky punched with the 1 3/8″ punch and then on a scallop punch in groovy guava (that is paper pierced) There are three brads from the vintage collection under the sentiment.  I paper pierced around the main image and sponged it in close to cocoa and rounded two corners.  I layered the main image on groovy guava, choc. chip, and old olive.  I then finished it off with a piece of white taffeta ribbon and we are done!

Sometimes I sit here and wonder where the time goes.  My boys are growing so fast and it seems I never spend enough time just playing with them.  Today we had a play day!  We painted with their new paints we got yesterday and hung them up for all to see.  We made cupcakes with so many sprinkles it is hard to see the frosting!  We went and had lunch with my mom at her elementary school (I was also delivering a SU! package to a fellow teacher).  Now they are sleeping and I hope they had a good morning.  Here is a picture of my mom and the boys on my great grandfathers swing that my dad and uncle put up for her.  I hope you have many moments to cherish today!

SCS Challenge and Beate’s WSC

It is snowing in Snohomish today!  It is gray and the picture did not turn out well even in the daylight.  Sorry that the colors look so bluah…it is bright IRL!  I used Beate’s WSC for the layout and the card size is 8 x 4  so it will fit in a business sized envelope, that is the SCS challenge today.  I started with a Bashful Blue cardbase and layered Real Red and four pieces of Summer Picnic on that.  For the Main image I used the cute rocket from Pun Fun.  It is also brighter IRL.  I put Crystal effects on the porthole window and glitter on the star streamers.  I also used one of the sticky cutouts with glitter on the left side of the card too.  I should have backed it with white but to late now 🙂  I added black brads backed with bashful blue punched with the smallest round punch to all of the corners.  I added a little bit of jersey ribbon to the main image and popped it up with pop-up dots.  I have a stamp camp tomorrow so I will share those projects with you next week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
