couple more sneak peaks..

Here are two more sneak peaks..Ali you will have to wait for the rest!  (I have to keep you in suspense!)  Hope you like them!

sneak peak for Ali..

Ali Phipps Sept 09 173-photoshop

This is beautifully pregnant Ms. Ali!  She is officially my first non-family member that I photographed!  She did a great job and with a face like that how could I go wrong!  She thinks I need to be funnier to get a good laugh out of my victims..I mean subjects.  I will work on that Ali! 🙂 Chad, my amazingly patient husband, (even when he pretends not to be) downloaded Photoshop CS4 for me to try today.  I have been trying to learn it for 2 hours now and so far this is what I have.  Hope you like the preview Ali and there will be more to come next week!

2 days…and done!

What have I been doing for the past two days (well besides being a mom and wife)?  Baby shower invites!  I had to do 55 of them!  They are not your traditional baby shower invites but the nursery will be done in a pirate theme so I thought it would be fun to do a pirate shower too!  I have lots of ideas so I will share after the shower is done!  I do not like to do mass production but have learned a few tricks along the way that help…

1.Do each step all at once..for instance if you need 55 scallop circles, punch all of them at once.  Cut all of the same size of cardstock at the same time and do it all before you start to assemble.

2.I always work in groups of 10.  I don’t know why I started doing this but I have done it for a long time.  I have all of my cardstock cut and sorted in my groups of ten. I then finish ten at a time to it looks like I am getting more accomplished and I don’t go crazy doing the same thing for numerous times in a row. Make sense?

3.Don’t sweat the small stuff! Anyone who knows me knows I am a little bit of a perfectionist but if you are doing a huge group of these you will have to sacrifice perfectionism (is that a word) in the sake of sanity!

I used the retired SU! set Ahoy Matey for these.  Thanks Vicki!

My Everything

This is my page for Chad!  The base is Sage Shadow.  I used the Designer paper Nouveau Chic which I thought I wouldn’t like but really do!  Chad liked it all -well except the part that says Great hugger-he didn’t like that one much!  Don’t you think is it wonderful to get a really great hug?  I used my computer to create all of the journaling.  I just cut my 12 x12 and then sewed it back together!  If you are interested in what I wrote let me know and I will post it if I get the ok from the boss..:) I also used black buttons, some hardware that is now retired, retired SU! velvet ribbon and apricot ribbon and made the textured part by using glue dots to “bubble” it.  That is clear right?? LOL.  Hope you have a great day!  I have scrapbook camp on Thursday so I will be finishing up the layout and sharing that with you soon!  Good night!

My Love

I am working on a scrap page of this picture…my everything.  July 09 194

I rarely get a genuine smile on camera from him.  It is always the “say cheese” fake smile or a goofy face.  I love this picture of my #1 man!  I am so blessed that he chose me to spend his life with.  I love him more than words.  I will share the page when I get it done!  Hope everyone is enjoying your weekend-how could you not be with a HUSKY win like today!

BlueBerry Buckly Coffee Cake

I really hope to start to post more regularly soon.  I miss creating and have really been getting inspired by alot of things lately.  We had a busy but fun stamp camp last week!  I will get those projects posted sometime this week.  Here is one of the requested recipes:

Blueberry Buckle Coffee Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup sugar

2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

3/4 tsp. salt

1/4 cup shortening

3/4 cup milk

1 egg

2 cups fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blueberries -I did have the best results with fresh

crumb topping (below)

Heat oven to 375 degrees.  Grease square pan 9x9x2 (I used a round 9 x 2 Wilton cake pan so it would fit on my cake plate).  Blend flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, milk and egg; beat 30 seconds (I mixed just until combined).  carefully stir in blueberries.  Spread batter in pan.  sprinkle with crumb topping.  Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Drizzle with glaze.  Serve warm or cool.

Crumb Topping

1/ 2 cup sugar

1/3 cup flour

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 cup butter, softened

Mix all ingredients until crumbly.

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 to 2 tsp. hot water

Mix all ingredients until drizzling consistency.

I have only had good reviews of this cake.  Try it and enjoy!  The next time I bake one I will shot a pic and post it with this post.  Have a great weekend! GO HUSKIES!!
